What We Do

Salzmark is building a line of everyday kitchen items made in the United States, starting with cutting boards.

While furnishing my first home, I wanted to buy simple, quality products made from natural materials. I was surprised how often I could not find what I was looking for—even when I was willing to pay more.

Like grocery store bread, many of today's home goods come with long ingredient lists and manufacturing steps that they don't need.

I decided to take matters into my own hands. Working with my brother-in-law, a furniture maker, we designed our version of the perfect everyday cutting board from solid maple. This eventually became our first product, the Salzmark One.

Realizing many products could benefit from fewer ingredients and better manufacturing, Salzmark was started from a simple rule:

Work with as few, time-tested materials as possible, and design around their strengths.

This way, "toxin-free" and "plastic-free" are natural side effects.
